Customized Process Chiller

Work Process of Chillers

Customized Process Chillers – Precision Cooling Built for Your Process

In today’s industrial environment, one-size-fits-all cooling solutions simply don’t work. Every process is different. Every fluid behaves differently. Every application demands its own temperature stability, flow rate, safety standards, and reliability level.

That’s where Customized Process Chillers come in.

A customized process chiller is designed around your material, your operating conditions, and your production goals—not around generic industry assumptions. Whether you’re handling oil, glycol, methanol, brine, ammonia, or high-energy battery systems, the chiller must work with your process, not against it.

As a custom process chiller manufacturer, we engineer solutions that deliver accurate temperature control, maximum uptime, energy efficiency, and long service life, even in the most demanding environments.

Whether you are running a pharmaceutical plant, chemical reactor, plastic molding unit, food processing line, or battery energy storage system (BESS), a standard chiller may cool water—but a customized process chiller protects your product, improves efficiency, and saves money in the long run.

What Is a Customized Process Chiller?

A Customized Process Chiller is a cooling system engineered specifically to meet the exact cooling requirement of a particular industrial process, rather than offering a generic capacity or configuration.

Unlike off-the-shelf chillers, customized chillers are designed by considering:

  • Process heat load
  • Required temperature accuracy
  • Type of fluid (water, glycol, oil, brine, chemicals)
  • Ambient temperature conditions
  • Space availability
  • Industry safety and compliance standards
  • Continuous or batch operation
  • Energy efficiency targets

In simple words:
👉 The chiller adapts to your process—not the process to the chiller.

Types of Customized Chiller

“Every industry has different cooling needs, and that’s why customized chillers are designed in multiple configurations. Based on application, cooling method, temperature range, and working fluid, customized chillers can be classified into the following major types.”

Air-Cooled Customized Chillers

Air-cooled customized chillers use ambient air to reject heat through condenser coils and fans.

Oil Chillers

Oil chillers are specially designed to control the temperature of hydraulic or lubricating oil.

Skid-Mounted Chillers

These chillers are designed for easy movement and plug-and-play operation. Best for Temporary cooling requirements

Water-Cooled Customized Chillers

Water-cooled customized chillers use cooling water from a cooling tower to reject heat.

Brine Chiller

These chillers are designed for applications where very low temperatures are required using brine or salt solutions.

Methanol Chillers

Methanol Chillers are specially designed cooling systems used to control the temperature of methanol during industrial processes, storage, and circulation.

Glycol Chillers

Glycol chillers are designed for low-temperature or sub-zero applications using ethylene or propylene glycol mixtures

Ammonia (NH₃) Chillers

Ammonia chillers are natural refrigerant-based systems used in large industrial applications.

(Battery Energy Storage Systems)

BESS Chillers are advanced cooling systems designed to regulate the temperature of Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and long-lasting battery operation.

Key Benefits of Customized Process Chillers

“Efficient cooling without water dependency.
Smart, reliable, and ready for any climate.”

One

Perfect Temperature Control for Your Process: Customized chillers are designed to deliver precise temperature control, which is critical for product consistency and quality. Better batch repeatability Reduced rejection rate Stable process conditions For industries like pharma, chemicals, and food, even a 1–2°C variation can cause major losses.

Two

Higher Energy Efficiency: Since the chiller is sized and designed exactly for your load: No unnecessary compressor cycling Optimized condenser and evaporator selection Lower power bills Reduced peak demand charges This directly improves your operational cost (OPEX).

Three

Longer Equipment Life: Over-sized or under-sized chillers fail faster. A customized process chiller runs in its ideal operating range, which means: Less stress on compressors Lower wear and tear Fewer breakdowns Longer service life

Four

Designed for Harsh Industrial Conditions: Customized chillers can be built to withstand: High ambient temperatures (up to 55°C) Dusty or corrosive environments Outdoor installations Continuous 24/7 operation This makes them ideal for Indian industrial conditions.

Fifth

Safety & Compliance: For industries like pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food processing, customized chillers can comply with: GMP standards FDA requirements Explosion-proof zones ATEX or flameproof electricals

Why Standard Chillers Often Fail in Real Applications

Many industries initially install standard chillers to reduce capital cost. Unfortunately, this often leads to:

For example, a plastic injection molding unit may require ±1°C temperature accuracy, while a chemical process might need sub-zero cooling with corrosion-resistant materials. A standard chiller cannot handle both efficiently.

This is where custom-engineered process chillers deliver long-term value.

Many industries initially install standard chillers to reduce capital cost. Unfortunately, this often leads to:
Frequent temperature fluctuations
Higher power consumption
Compressor overloading
Poor product quality
Increased breakdowns
Shorter equipment life

Why “Customized” Saves More Than It Costs
Many customers hesitate because customized chillers cost slightly more upfront. But in reality:
Power savings recover the cost difference quickly
Reduced downtime saves production losses
Better product quality increases profits
Lower maintenance cost year after year
A customized process chiller is an investment, not an expense.

How to Calculate Cooling Capacity for a Customized Process Chiller

Example Scenario – Plastic Injection Molding
Given:

Process heat load = 120,000 kcal/hr
Required safety margin = 20%
Calculation:
Total load = 120,000 × 1.2
Total load = 144,000 kcal/hr
Conversion to TR:
1 TR = 3,024 kcal/hr
TR Required = 144,000 ÷ 3,024 ≈ 47.6 TR
👉 A 50 TR customized process chiller would be recommended, with precise mold temperature control and high ambient design.

How to Choose the Right Customized Process Chiller Manufacturer
Before finalizing, ensure the manufacturer:
Understands your industry process
Conducts proper heat load calculation
Offers design customization, not just branding
Uses quality components
Provides strong after-sales support
Has proven installations
A good manufacturer will ask questions before offering a solution
